What Lungi Learnt: Part 4

Our awesome chef, Lungi, has been so busy with her Getsmarter Restaurant Management course that locking her down for an update on her progress has been tricky! This week we finally found the time to sit down and chat. Here’s how the conversation went:

Now that you are six weeks into the course how are you enjoying it?

The first and second week I was stressed out. It was very difficult for me because I work long hours and after nine and a half hours I have to go and sit and do my assignments and read my notes so it was very tiring but after three weeks until now I have gotten used to it and am enjoying it.

What marks have you got and how does it make you feel when you get a good mark and a bad mark?

So far I have 92% and I was very happy when I received that. The lowest mark I have received is 50%. This wasn’t because I didn’t understand it; I just incorrectly read the paper. This didn’t make me feel good, as I needed 60% to pass but 92%, yoh! I was very happy and excited.

What module have you enjoyed most?

The module I have enjoyed the most was Menu Creation – that’s what I got 92% for. Here we had to create sandwiches, salads and wraps like I do at Pure Good. That’s why I got such a good mark!

What is the most important thing you have learnt so far?

The food you serve and the service you give to the customer are more important than the money your business makes. You can’t make money if you don’t make good food or offer good service.

We’ve also posted a short video of Lungi on Instagram. As Pure Good fan, Sarah Koopman says, “she is everything”!
